Sarah Beckman, Public Relations Executive, discusses her experience at Clausematch

Sarah Beckman is the Public Relations Executive for Clausematch in North America. We recently sat down with Sarah to learn more about her role at Clausematch.

What is your role at Clausematch and what does it entail?

I am the Public Relations Executive for the North America team at Clausematch. My job varies from day to day, from writing and sharing content about our company with the press to prepping team members for upcoming interviews and events, and really everything in between. I help keep our company relevant, maintain positive relationships with journalists and industry experts, and ensure Clausematch continues to be a leading voice in RegTech.

What were you doing before joining the Clausematch team?

Prior to joining Clausematch, I was a TV journalist for an NBC-affiliate in Charlotte, North Carolina. I’ve been in journalism for the last 10+ years.

Why did you decide to join Clausematch?

Clausematch sounded like a very new and exciting opportunity to showcase and use my communication skills in a different way. Also, seeing as I am the first person to occupy this role for the company, I was eager to develop the role into something that could really propel Clausematch into the North American market.

When you are at work, how do you motivate yourself?

As I work mostly from home, sometimes there can be quite a bit of independent work time. I keep myself motivated by taking short neighborhood walks in between demanding tasks, as well as separating my day into chunks of obligations so that I am in deep work mode for the most important obligations.

What has been one of your most proudest moments at Clausematch?

My proudest moments have been booking interviews, writing thought leadership pieces, and prepping our company experts. By seeing how successful these pieces of content are and hearing positive feedback from my colleagues, I can see the difference I am making and that makes me feel proud to be part of the Clausematch team.

What is one professional skill you are actively developing

One of my goals for 2023 is to take a class on website development and design. I think adding that skill to my toolbox would help troubleshoot site issues for the company and allow me to be an even greater asset to my team.

What are your hobbies outside of work?

Every morning, I go for a six to seven mile run around the city of Charlotte. It’s a great way for me to stay in shape and to start my day on the right foot (literally!). I’m also a big fan of hiking and trying out new mountain trails around North and South Carolina. There are so many outdoor activity options where I live so I’m always exploring. Experimenting in the kitchen is also a favorite pastime of mine, especially making pasta and rice dishes.

What is something unique about you (a fun fact) that few people are aware of?

I have played all three forms of hockey as a kid and teenager: ice hockey, field hockey, and floor (or iceless) hockey. My favorite is floor hockey because it’s fast-paced and environment-controlled.

Do you have any programs that you are currently binge-watching?

I am waiting for the upcoming season of Severance on Apple TV (It was so good!) so for now, I’m watching Narcos on Netflix.

If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?

My husband and I like to experiment in the kitchen, but when we’re in a pinch, we always make spinach, cheese, and egg sandwiches.
