Clausematch hits the podium at the first ever Dragon Boat Race in Canary Wharf

Clausematch achieves third place in the Dragon Boat Race event organised by WaterAid UK and Canary Wharf Group on July 7th. The goal of the challenge was to raise money for WaterAid to support people in need of water while competing based on the Chinese tradition from over 2000 years ago. The brand new event raised a total of £22,850 for WaterAid charity.

17 people from Clausematch’s London office battled against 14 other teams: KPMG, Paysafe, WallStreetDocs, Fidelity, Exiger Limited, HSBC and others. A fun-filled day of exciting challenge involved a series of time-clocked races that took place in the South Dock of Canary Wharf. Clausematch hit the podium at third place and also won the special awards for the best dressed team wearing aquatic themed costumes.

Emma Kempton, Global Head of Customer Success, commented:  “I spotted this event was happening near our offices and I knew immediately that we must enter a team. The Clausematch team was really excited to take on a new challenge of Dragon Boat Racing, we are a super competitive bunch and we were happy to give this our best shot. This was our first time racing in a dragon boat. Delighted that we could raise money for WaterAid and raise awareness and contribute to making a lasting difference reaching people around the world with clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene.”

To recall, 771 million people around the world, i.e. 1 in 10 people, don't have clean water close to home. Whole communities are held back due to this: children miss out on education, people struggle to earn a decent living, and families are often ill. By fundraising, teams help WaterAid work with more communities to ensure people have a reliable supply of clean water – and with it, the opportunity to thrive. To further this mission the event is set to become annual.
